STATUS: Used on Italian military installations by Allied Forces, still in use. These plates superceded the Allied Forces in Southern Europe series.
FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1968
PLATES ARE: currently American sized plates, black on white with "AFI" across the top. The plate number is prefixed by various single letter prefixes, indicating the base of origin. Second vehicle plates have reverse colored plates, and the plate number is prefixed by a number "2". Official vehicle plates are similar, but have "AFI OFFICIAL" across the top. Motorcycle plates are smaller, and have an "M" suffix.
