FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1971

GRAPHICS USED:  Most Bangladesh plates are hand painted on flat steel, although some cast aluminum plates are known. Plates have characters in all Bengali script. Color codes are as follows:

Passenger - white on black

Government - white on red

Government Corporations - white on medium blue

Foreign Personnel - black on yellow

Buses and Taxis - black on white

Motorcycles - white on black, but smaller in size

The President has a round gold crest on his vehicle, with the national coat-of-arms.
