FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1930's

GRAPHICS USED:  Passenger plates are fairly non-descript British style plates, usually in silver on black. All public transport vehicles, including taxis, buses and hire cars, have blue on white plates, with a round stamped logo of the issuing department.

PLATES ARE: Owner provided. Most are silver on black, but some black on white or yellow plates are now starting to appear. Plates ahave a simple serial number, with a prefix letter denoting the parish of issue:

A - St. Andrew

E - St. Peter

G - St. George

J - St. John

L - St. Lucy

M - St. Michael

O - St. Joseph

P - St. Philip

S - St. James

T - St. Thomas

X - Christ Church (Bridgetown)

Non passenger types are as follows:

ML - Government Corporations, silver on green

MP - Police Vehicles, silver on green

Car Dealers - standard series, but in red on white

B - Government Mini-bus, blue on white

BM - Government Bus, blue on white

BT - Private Mini-bus, blue on white

H - Hire Car, blue on white

Z - Taxi, blue on white

ZM - Taxi van, blue on white

ZR - Route Taxi, blue on white

CD - Diplomatic Corps, yellow-orange on blue

CL - Truck, additional front plate only, black on yellow.
