STATUS: Former nation, later known as Democratic Republic of Congo, then later Zaire, currently known as Republic of Congo. Belgian Congo fell in 1960.

CAPITAL: Leopoldville

WORLD LOCATION: Central Africa

FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1920s

GRAPHICS USED:  Later issued plates had a five pointed star preceding the plate number.

PLATES WERE: Offiically issued, yellow on blue embossed aluminum, Belgian style. Passenger, truck and motorcycle plates were similar, and issued in district blocks. Non passenger types:

GG and VGG - Governor, and Vice Governor

A prefix on black, or red, on white - Administration Vehicle

Military vehicles had the Belgian tri-color crest to the left of the plate number, in black on white.
