PLATES ARE: Officially issued. Current series passenger plates are black on white or light gray, with BOLIVIA spelled out across the bottom or top of the plates. Known types are as follows:

Black on yellow - Government Vehicles

White on red - Public Service Vehicles (buses)

Letter codes are also used, and are found in the second position of the three letter code on each plate. The following are known:

A - Private Car

T - Public Use Car

D - Government Owned Car

C - Private Truck

S - Public Use Truck

H - Government Owned Truck

E - Private Pickup Truck

P - Public Pickup Truck

Z - Government Owned Pickup Truck

G - Private Tractor

F - Government Owned Tractor

J - Privately Owned Jeep

X - Publicly Owned Jeep

K - Government Owned Jeep

N - Private Bus

B - Public Bus

I - Government Owned Bus

U - Privately Owned Van

R - Publicly Owned Van

L - Government Owned Van

M - Motorcycle, on a smaller plate

The following types are known, with their own specific design:

Temporary - Yellow on blue, with the letters CI, and three numbers. The front plate is dated.

Military Vehicles - Black on white, with a six digit serial number, in the range of 800001 - 899999.

Diplomatic - Red on white, number CD 001 through CD 999

Consular Corps - White on green, number CC 001 through CC 999

International Organization - Green on black, number OI-0001 through OI-9999

United Nations and Non-Diplomatic Embassy Staff - Green on black, number OI-0001 through OI-9999
