Bouvet Island
STATUS: Island Territory of Norway.
PRONOUNCED: BOO vay
CAPITAL: None
WORLD LOCATION: Extreme South Atlantic Ocean
FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: None yet in use.
GRAPHICS USED: None.
PLATES WOULD BE: As there currently are no motor vehicles on Bouvet, as well as no people, there actually is no need for motor vehicle registration plates of any type. HOWEVER.... if any sort of indigenous population would settle on Bouvet, and motor vehicles actually found their place, it would stand to reason that Bouvet would use license plates very similar to those already in use on Svalbard, another Norwegian island territory. Currently, Svalbard uses a series in yellow on black (for tax free vehicles) starting with ZN. The next logical (as well as available) letter sequence for a prefix would be ZW. The plate at the top of the page represents a Bouvet Islands private car plate, and the plate shown above represents a Bouvet "Trade" or Dealer plate.
SINGLE PLATES OR PAIRS: Pairs
OVAL: BP ISO: none
CARS DRIVE ON: Left
