FORMER SLOGANS: "It's Better in the Bahamas" - 1977 only. There were some special issue plates made during the 1950's and 1960's bearing the slogan "Nassau Speed Weeks", which I believe were special made plates commemerating a race held in Nassau during that period. Although there were no other slogans in use, plates since 1913 have been basically similar, in white or silver on black - originally of porcelain, with varying designs and legend layouts, later in a more standardized British format, usually long, with an N or NP prefix (Nassau or New Providence). Standard design NASSAU issues began in 1976, with blue on yellow embossed plates.
