STATUS: British Island dependency, now known as Kiribati.

CAPITAL: Tarawa

WORLD LOCATION: Central Pacific

FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1940's

PLATES WERE: Owner provided, in a standard British series with a simple serial number, in white on black. Government vehicles had similar plates, with a prefix of GEG (see header photo). As far as I know, no verifiable Gilbert and Ellice Islands private car plates exist in any collections.
