Iraq Occupied Kuwait

STATUS: Short-lived annexed region of Iraq (August 1990 to February 1991)

FORMERLY: Kuwait

WORLD LOCATION: Southwest Asia

FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1990

PLATES WERE: Standard Iraqi issue, but with one of three different town names in the lower left panel (in Arabic) - Al Jahrah, Al Nida, and Al Kuwayt (shown above). I believe there are two different types known to exist in collections from this series:

Private Car - black on white

Truck - black on yellow

Although none were ever found, it stands to reason that the following either exist, or had there been enough time, would have existed:

Taxi or Bus - white on red

Government Vehicle - white on blue

Motorcycle - black on white, small sized

CARS DRIVE ON: Right
