Atoll
STATUS: Incorporated territory of the US; privately owned, but administered by the Office of Territorial and International Affairs. Consists of 50 islets covered with dense vegetation, coconut trees, and balsa-like trees up to 30 meters tall
WORLD LOCATION: Oceania, atoll in the North Pacific Ocean, about one-half of the way from Hawaii to American Samoa - Geographic coordinates: 5 52 N, 162 06 W.
FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: None known. Palmyra Atoll is currently uninhabited. Roads that at one time existed are now degraded beyond use and overgrown.
There is one port, known as the West Lagoon, and one airstrip, which is also unusable, due to overgrowth of vegetation.
MOTOR VEHICLES CURRENTLY REGISTERED: 0
PLATES ARE: not known to exist from a previous period, but it's assumed that any military vehicles on Palmyra would have had no plates, or at best, some sort of military issue, or possibly a Dept. of Interior coded issue.
