FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1907

From 1907 to 1927, the prefix SHA was in use.

From 1928 to 1976, the prefix was shortened to SH.

Embossed plates, as well as flat printed plates were known, in white on black, with the prefix, followed by a five digit serial number, usually prefixed by two or three zeros.
