FIRST LICENSE PLATES IN USE: 1969

MOTOR VEHICLES CURRENTLY REGISTERED:  1,500

PLATES ARE: Officially issued

First issued in 1969, with white on black plates, starting with number P-1.

1970, yellow on black plates came into use, from P-100 to around P-450.

1972, the current yellow on black series began, with the ZN prefix.

In 1992, plates came into use on Russian Svalbard.

SINGLE PLATES OR PAIRS: Pairs

Known types:

White on red plates numbered ZN10 through ZN 99 are reserved for car dealers.

Standard yellow on black plates, numbered ZN1000 through ZN9999 are reserved for use on snowmobiles, tractors, trailers and motorcycles.

Standard yellow on black plates, numbered ZN10000 to ZN99999 are reserved for used on passenger cars, trucks and buses.
